ANSAN FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN SOUTH KOREA
The Survivors: Through Thick or Thin...

I became the president unexpectedly. Umuwi kasi yung president that time so from secretary, he appointed (which was agreed by the officers) me as the president, and was re-elected for another term. I had the attitude to do all responsibilities left undone by the officers and members ,which had a good and a bad effect to the organization during that term. I handled it with zeal to serve , with prayers and support from AFC members, and with the saying... “ Good is not good enough if you could make it better, and better is not better enough if you could make it best.”
Kadalasan nawawalan ako ng time para sa sarili ko at sa work. Number one priority ko ang service sa community that’s why I often neglect myself because at that time, I was not ready for that position.
When criticisms approached me, honestly, I cried, and set times to communicate to my mentors (Fr. Eugene, ex-president Ben Magundayao, and Sr. Theresa) they taught me to treat criticisms as a challenge, thus made me strive more and develop more enthusiasm to tackle all my duties and responsibilities as the president of the community. So, with the spiritual and moral support from those people near and dear to me, plus keeping a positive mental attitude, nakayanan ko ang lahat.

The Galilea Migrant Pastoral Center and the Ansan Filipino Community is one of the best training center when it comes to leadership. As one of AFC former president, I learned a lot, gained knowledge, knowledge that inculcate to the deepest part of my heart and hypothalamus. I became more religion-oriented and had greater confidence. Being a former president, I prefer not to call that aspect of my life as WORK, because to share my thoughts is one thing I enjoy. Lastly, Galilea and AFC molded me with descency, civility, novility of mind, spirit, and character.
Before I accepted the position, definitely I’m ready to those people who will criticize and pressure me but I replied to them, "as long as they have never encountered or experienced the position I have, they will never understand me." On the other hand, at least I gave my 100% best!

I planned ahead of time in every activity to make it sure na magiging successful ito.
Minsan yong time para sa sarili ko ay nagagamit ko sa community pero I see to it na I have time for myself.
He he he.

During my term as a community servant, I gathered all organizational leaders under AFC. They promised to help and support the community all through out. I've got their satisfactory approval. Kumbaga, Ansan Filipino Community ang kasangga ko. During that time I prayed a lot, asking for guidance and confidence from Almighty God. I consulted the community and the AFC officers if problems arise. I even asked the advice of my friend, a priest in the Philippines. After every activity, I socialized with the community and thanked them for their support. During weekdays I’m with my family, playing with my kid.
Criticism? I loved what I’m doing, and in this community, I know that in my own little way I can make a difference. Pagkakaisa at tulong-tulong and there will always be a room for more. I have no regrets, anyway.
CONGRATULATIONS, GALILEA AND AFC, AND MORE POWER. MAY GOD BLESS OUR ENDEAVOR.

Pressure? With the help of the group nakasurvive ako. Kritiko? Thank you!
