FILIPINO MIGRANT WORKERS
ASSOCIATION IN SHIWHA (FMWAS)
FMWAS is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated of service to fellow
Filipinos in Korea founded on January 28, 2007. It is composed of Filipino migrant workers in Shiwa, mostly working in Shiwa Industrial Zone (Shiwa Kungdan) and Banwol. We envisioned ourselves to form a niche of individuals with mutual respect, unity and harmony. We commit ourselves to build and strengthen relationships with the community, industry and other organizational entities as a beacon to assist the members who are in need.
We wholeheartedly thank the Filipino community for accepting our newly founded association. Moreso, for the gracious and generous support that we have received when the association has just started. Let’s join hands and reverse the trend by expressing meekness, quietness of spirit and loving concern for others.
ANAK TI AMIANAN
Anak Ti Amianan, also known as Amianan, is an association of Ilocano migrant workers in Ansan. It was founded last September 2003 under the presidency of Mr. Arthur Abaya with Mr. Willy Sapdoy as the Vice President. This organization primarily aims to help and support fellow Ilocanos here in Ansan. For instance, we fully subsidized the plane ticket of any illegal members captured while the association provides 50% for those who exit voluntarily whether legal or illegal.
In addition, we also provide hospitalization benefits for those who suffered from accident or sickness through member’s contributions. However, this organization does not tolerate any illegal activities of members or officers doing it under its name. We also engaged ourselves in sports such as basketball. We joined invitational tournament from different places near Ansan and other places like Namdong Incheon and Dong Incheon. We are also planning to join the Seoul tournament next year. These are made possible through the leadership of Mr. Jessie Fernandez.
We are inviting our fellow Ilocanos to be part of our growing community.
VISMIN SOLIDARITY ASSOCIATION
Bisdak is the name of Vismin when it was not yet properly organized. But because of the increasing population of Visaya in Ansan, we agree to change the name and formally organize it into VISMIN to include those from Mindanao.
Our objectives are to form a group of Visaya in Ansan, to promote solidarity and camaraderie and to develop strong bonding and respect among members in the spirit of cooperation, mutual support and unity. The members will avail hospitalization benefits and job employment from the association. We are also organizing fieldtrip for enjoyment and strong bonding. On this way, we find sense of togetherness as a family.
VISMIN SOLIDARITY is under the umbrella of ANSAN FILIPINO COMMUNITY and helps its community service. We are now one year since it was founded. It is now in the full swing of what we call "community adventurism" and we are enjoying the whole-hearted support and assistance of the members in building the association.
