THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE

One year had passed since I assumed the directorship of Galilea Migrant Center. The year passed maybe a year full of challenges and trials but it was also a year full of blessings. Working in Galilea is a blessing. It is a blessing because I meet many people. It is a blessing because I have the opportunity to give and serve other people. Yes, given the opportunity to give and serve is a blessing.
One day a man came to my office and handed me an envelope. He said, "Here is a little help from someone." When I asked the name of the donor, the man said, "He doesn't want to be known."
It is true that there are people who don't want to be recognized when they give help. For them it is already an opportunity to serve others. They simply do it out of love.
This should always be our attitude. We should thank one another, we should thank the Lord, and we should thank the church, for the opportunity to give and for the opportunity to serve.
People always advice me to take care of myself because if I don’t, nobody else will do. Can we take care of ourselves while we are serving others?
The Lord says, "Treat others the way you would have them treat you." In other words, "Care for others the way you want others to care for you." Serving others is an act of caring. It is not true that if you do not care of yourself, no one else will. Rather the Lord says, "When you have forgotten yourself and have given up what you want most, then I will enter into your life. I will take care of you."
This is my message for you this Christmas. Let us serve and care for one another. Jesus cared for us and so he came and served us.
